Someone emailed that their computer was very slow when working on photos. Here's my answer:
Your computer not opening files above 4mb is a huge problem. Your D300 is a great camera. It takes wonderful photos and you need a computer that can handle it. Consider getting a new computer. They are reasonably priced right now.
Here's why I think you need a new computer — I bought a Canon 7D the week it came on the market several years ago. Camera arrived and I shot some test images. They looked really bad. Thought it was me. I took the camera to Costa Rica and shot with it. Threw all the photos away because they were so bad. I sent the camera back to Canon. They cleaned it and sent it back to me. I took more test photos. They looked really bad. I sent the camera back to Canon. They sent it back and said there was nothing wrong with it. I called technical support to make sure all my settings were right. The rep sort of mentioned new software and a computer but he never really pushed it. A couple of weeks later I bought a new Mac and upgraded to Photoshop CS5. The photos looked great. Problem solved!!
Newer cameras need newer software and computers. The photos are very large and rich. They need good technology to process them.
